Description
Among all Kiangnan silver coins, the old Kiangnan was the most favourite to collectors for its vivid dragon. Its production time is very short, so only a few were produced making it difficult to obtain one.According to whether the character "Sheng" (Province) lack of one stroke, it was divided into two varieties and it has two different edges ordinary reeding and ornamented edge. The original dies of old Kiangnan were engraved by Heaton mint in England, according to the specimen in Heaton we know that the original die didn't lack of strokes, it could be damage to later production die that created the variety. An NGC AU58 realized USD 113,525 in HK 2011 August auction and an NGC XF40 realized USD 26,888 in Champion 2012 April auction. An uncertified example in UNC sold in August 2014 Hong Kong Auction for USD 129,800. A PCGS AU55 realized USD 53,775 in Autust 2014 Hong Kong sale.
