Excellent condition with splendid coloring

This original and neatly colored map shows the Asian continent. The map is framed by three illustrated marginal borders, with ten illustrations of natives in typical costumes and nine city views of, among others, Calicut, Goa, Damascus, Jerusalem and Aden. The map part is endowed with staffage of ships and sea monsters as well as with an elephant above the spring of the Ganges. The depiction of the Great Wall is clearly recognizable. With text in French on verso.
Condition
The map is in excellent condition. With a slight creasemark in centerfold. Copy with wide margins, strong impression and firm old coloring that presumably has been refreshed. Dimensions of leaf: 58.5 x 49.5 cm, dimensions of plate: 55.5 x 41 cm.
