SERENE COUPLE BY M. P. SIMONS, ¾ PLATE DAGUERREOTYPE. The plate is 6 ½ x 5 ¾- inches, in a gilt paper mat, uncased. They have likely just married. He holds a book on the column. There is some coloration, especially on her dress and the faces. There is a large printed label on the verso, with a space for the name (not filled in) and for the date when this was "daguerreotyped." "July 24, 184_" is written in but not the specific year. The label advertises Simons' OIL PAINTING AND PICTURES. Despite some light spots and mild stains this has great charm.
