This rhinoceros was designed and manufactured by the toy designer Renate Müller from Sonneberg. It is a therapeutic toy that consists entirely of natural materials and encourages natural posture of children by touching, gripping, uplifting and balancing, whereto the leather handle on the back is for. In addition, Renate Müller's toy objects, mostly animal figures, are highly sought after as design objects and therefore are sold to collectors by gallery owners in New York and Bern.



The toy rhinoceros is in excellent condition with only minimal signs of age and wear. Its dimensions are 49 x 80 cm.



Renate Müller (b. 1945)

Renate Müller was born in 1945 in the Thuringian Sonneberg. After studying as a toy designer, she joined in the parents' business, which primarily produced dolls and stuffed animals. She developed designs for a new type of toy that was not made of plush, but natural materials. When the collection should be produced in 1972, the company was nationalized by the state-owned enterprises. Until 1978, Renate Müller was still working at the VEB as a designer. After the fall of the wall, Renate Müller bought back her company and produces along with her daughter the therapeutically valuable animal figures until today. (cru)
