Description
Both celadon green with calcifications, elongated form, Liangzhu culture, c.2800 bc. L of longest 20.2 cm. (8 in.) Note: The awl ornament has been found in burial tombs next to the head of the deceased suggesting it to have been for the hair.

From the Irving Langleb collection, a prominent Jewish gentleman who resided in Japan post-WWII and was a close friend to Prince Mikasa. Pieces offered in this sale were collected in Japan in the 1950's and bear a consistent collection label.
Condition
Shorter awl has an old crack at the tip, taller example is well worn from significant age.
