Emerson was born in England, but moved to the U.S. and settled in Connecticut. He was a member of the New York Watercolor Club and the Westchester Art Institute. He specialized in tonalist landscapes. Inscribed by the author to author Harry Worcester Smith, with Smith's sporting bookplate inside front wrapper.
