Description
A Madame Handley Seymour beaded and floral appliqued opera coat, mid 1920s, the cloth of gold ground with chintz applications of birds and flowers, detachable later added brown fur collar, chest 112cm, 44in Provenance: Countess Granville, nee Lady Rose Bowes-Lyon. Handley Seymour made the 1923 bridal gown of her sister Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon who married Prince Albert, Duke of York, later King George VI.
Condition
Cloth of gold ground is generally good condition, colours are good, beading is good. 1950s fur collar is loosely tacked to rear neck and would be simple to remove. Lining is overall good, very slight fraying to sleeve underarm areas.
