Description
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivia, ca The hallmark of Valdivia pottery is the feminine ceramic figurine known as the "Venus" of Valdivia. These "Venuses" of Valdivia likely represented actual people, as each figurine is individual and unique, as can be seen by their hairstyles. This example shows an expressive visage with open eyes and raised eyebrows, an incised coiffure of long flowing locks, and a glimpse of her bust. Mounted on custom stand. 1.63"W x 1.25"H (4.13 W x 3.18 H cm)
