Description: Important sperm whale tooth, ( The Seagull Tooth ) circa 1830. This tooth shows an exciting whaling scene of the Nantucket Sleigh Ride and other boats after their own whales and a flurry of seagulls. The center of the tooth depicts a whale ship in full sail. Reference: Norman Flayderman book " Scrimshaw and Scrimshanders " Whales and Whalemen, 1972 page 107 and The Barbara Johnson Collection of Scrimshaw and Whaling Artifacts. Rafael Osona - August 14, 1993.
Condition : Good condition
