First Edition. First published with this generic cover of a couple in formal clothes, the song became popular when Al Jolson introduced it on Broadway in “Sinbad.” It was then immediately reissued with Jolson on the cover becoming a runaway best seller and making Gershwin into an overnight sensation.
Original copies of the first edition of “Swanee” are rare.
