Description
18th century, 225 x 80 cm, Central Anatolia, Konya region

A fragment of an early kilim showing serrated diamonds of varying sizes and colour combinations, arranged into wide and narrower horizontal bands. In Anatolia such designs are known as "baklava" because their serrated shape is reminiscent of a type of Turkish pastry. Very fine weave, first-rate colours. - Mounted onto canvas.
