Offered here is one of the demanded relief objects by Czech artist Jirí Hilmar. Painted with black tempera, the cut and folded papers form a relief, mounted in a square Plexiglass box. The reduced geometrical shapes of the pattern-like structures are repeated again and again, creating a visual effect for the viewer. This work by Jirí Hilmar testifies to the exploration of constructivism but also the Op-Art movement, which was particularly popular in the 1960s as represented by Victor Vasarely (1908-1997) and Josef Albers (1888-1976) among others.

The relief object is titled, dated and signed on the reverse on a paper card ‘Obsah 022/971 - 1971 - Ji?í Hilmar’. It is in good condition with only minor signs of age and wear. The dimensions are 61 x 61 x 5,8 cm.
