Description
An Egyptian polychrome wood Uraeus, Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, perhaps from a shrine, the erect cobra is nicely carved with a solar disk atop its head. The figure is gessoed and painted, the pigment extremely well-preserved the body a golden yellow color with blue and red additions on the front of the hood. H: 4 in (10.1 cm). Intact and a very nice and displayable piece mounted on a custom base. Ex Austin, TX private collection.
