A RARE GORGEOUS WELL MADE JAPANESE SATSUMA KORO, MEIJI PERIOD OR EARLIER

Item Details

Description

A stunning piece of Japanese fine art work with extremely fine details! Flanked with a mythical beast head on its shoulder and standing on its three legs, the lower and upper sections of the Koro are painted with cobalt blue, dark green and deep red enamels with gold decoration. Each side of the main body with a shaped cartouche depicting warriors and Noble men in gardens under a mythical bird logo, with fret key gold decoration on its top rim, further gold, cobalt blue, dark green and deep red decorations on the lid with a mythical lion standing over a ball with its head and tail up in the air. In overall excellent condition with a restored short hairline originated from the lid rim with the exterior surface not disturbed, without further damages or restorations. Please refer to the photos for more details.
