Description
soft-ground etching, 1947, signed and inscribed Epreuve d'essai Pour Todd, printed at Atelier 17 New York, on wove paper, with full margins, 330 x 210 mm (13 x 8 1/4 in) A very rare impression of this important work, the technique which enabled Miró to print manuscript text which read forwards was one that was invented by the polymath William Blake. After his death the method of producing this was lost, and was re-invented in New York by S.W. Hayter in 1947 at his experimental print studio Atelier 17.
