Decorative Art Deco sculpture depicting a semi-nude in a draped dress
This decorative sculpture was designed by the French sculptor Lucille Sevin and distributed by the art dealer Edmond Etling. Represented is the popular Art Deco subject of a half nude dancer with a draped dress. Particularly attractive are the iridescent reflections that break in the opal glass.
The sculpture is marked ‘ETLING FRANCE 87' on verso and is in very good condition showing only a small chip on the plinth and scattered minimal scratches. The height measures 28 cm.
Edmond Etling (est. 1909)
Edmond Laurent Etling established his company in 1909 under his own name and opened a gallery shop on the Rue de Paradis no. 29 in Paris. There one could acquire exclusive objects of the art deco periode, known artists such as Dimitri Chiparus, A. Godard, Jean Roberte Colinet-Claire and Lucille Sevin were represented at his gallery.
