Description
Southern Italy, ca. 5th century BCE. Finely sculpted terracotta vessel slipped in white with added black and red geometric design. Made to mimic a duck, with pointed tail, wide body, and upturned head. On front of spout is a stylized duck face, with eyes and beak present. The sides present a mirrored pattern of a strong red line and a near "A" shaped figure, which can be interpreted as a stylized wing and foot. 7"L x 6-1/2"H x 6-1/2"W.
