square base with angled watch recess, covered in recticular carving of figures in a variety of pursuits including boating, tea-drinking and gardening

Provenance: Collection of Ivory from the Marquesses of Dalhousie. The collection was started by James Broun Ramsay, 1st Marquess of Dalhousie and Governor General of India in 1848 -1856 and subsequently added to by other members of the family.
