Description
The AEAA is very pleased to offer this second wonderful set of 1930s, (6) tall goblet style finely etched, leaded crystal wines with distinctive Green Uranium, rope twist stems and collar bases. All carry a lovely grapes & Acanthus leaf etching, and are in great condition. These top quality stems are almost undoubtedly by Fostoria or Morgantown Glass, as each was known to employ this exact cross weave stem pattern. We feel these are top flight leaded Fostoria, as the bowls maintain a magnificent 7 second + ring tone. Of all the other glass houses in the West Virginia / Ohio River region, we have only established that 2 other companies supplied this exact weave, and those were the Louie & Monongah glass companies. BUT, we cannot establish absolutely that either ever used lead formulas in stemware between ca. 1920 and 1940. Our wonderful wines weigh 1# 12 oz. and measure 3 x 3 x 6.75 inches tall. Research consulted: West Virginia Glass Between the World Wars / by Dean Six; Great American Glass of The Roaring 20s & Depression Era, Book 1 & 2 / by James Measell & Berry Wiggins
