Description
We are very pleased to present this wonderful lot of pre 1921 hand painted Nippon items, including a valuable Rising Sun Nippon marked, green band floral medallion 3 footed rice bowl and underplate, and a large 11.5 x 4.75 x 2 inches deep rose medallion celery dish. This beautiful set carries the proper collectible scarce Van Patten #84 blue under glaze Hand Painted Rising Sun Nippon mark (14 – 18 sun's rays), first used in Japan in 1911, and only used until 1921. Reports that the Rising Sun is also a Transitional mark, being noted during the 1920s, are still unproven. The enamel and finished art characteristics, including the gilt banding, place this beautiful Nippon set between 1915 and 1921. We also have two brilliant M-in-Wreath Morimura candy dish + handled vase. The dish features a cabin & lake scenic with a splendid birch tree, and the vase sports a gorgeous woodland sunset scene. There is also a lovely hand painted floral nut bowl, signed by the artist W. Rosa. These are in excellent condition, making this a valuable lot for collection or resale.
