Item Details
Description
Oils on wooden board. Pastoral scene. Definitely Vernet Family. Painted by French master Joseph Vernet, dit Lauzet (b.1797 - d.1860), the younger son of Carle Vernet and grand-son of Claude-Joseph Vernet. He was also the younger brother of Horace Vernet . Signed lower right, as well as dated - 1833. This piece depicts one of the artist's specialties, mostly evident in his latter works - a horseman and peasant woman oversee the watering of cows in a pastoral landscape setting. Measurements: Approx. 21" x 18.25" framed; 15.5" x 12.5" - the wooden board
Condition
Very Good overall. Some very minor spots of mispaint and surface crackelure commensurate the great age
