Nineteenth-century Cantonese brisé fan, circa 1800
with earlier addition; fan is carved with figures in garden scenes. Later remodeled as the monture of a folding fan featuring a chicken-skin, or vellum, leaf entitled ‘The marriage of Cupid and Psyche’ by Francesco Bartolozzi (1727-1815) Published by Antonio Poggi, London (1789-90) Similar to leaf in Schreiber Coll. British Museum
