(JOHN C. FREMONT), American Presidential Candidate, Union General and Western Explorer.
c. 1864, This is a high quality, John C. Fremont, Tintype Photograph which is housed in its gilt bordered, 1.75” x 2” embossed leather case, Choice Extremely Fine. This is the same pose found on the most familiar varieties of his 1864 Presidential Candidate Campaign Ferrotypes, therefore it is also possible to consider this may well have been made as a Campaign issue. It is definitely not common or from the c. 1862 “Abbott” series, as the pose is totally different. A remarkable quality Tintype and the finest we have ever offered of General Fremont. Very Rare.
