Originally from Granby, Matthew Belval is a Montreal artist who attaches great importance to the aesthetic and formal quality. His works depict hyperrealist contemporary portraits of marginalized characters around him, often homeless. He simply wants to offer us an authentic vision of the people in the street. He uses pastel, oil and charcoal with as much sincerity as attention to detail. He has exhibited in many art galleries in Montreal.
