Description

A mid 19th century 15ct gold gem-set basket seal. Modelled as a rope-twist handle textured basket, the raised grape and foliate motif with turquoise and purple gem-accents, the base with foil-back citrine seal. Length 2.2cms. Weight 5.8gms.

Condition

The lot is in good to fair overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Replacements to the purple gems, believed garnet, amethyst and paste. One purple gem with significant chip. Wear and some deficiencies to claws. One turquoise with chip. Turquoise a light blue through medium bluish green hue. Slight matrix visible. Deterioration to foil backing. Citrine appears a medium yellow hue.
