GEORGE III: (1738-1820) King of the United Kingdom 1760-1820. D.S., George R, as King, (a bold, 'mad' example), at the head, one page, folio, Court at Saint James's, 13th April 1808. The partially printed document is a Royal Licence issued to Messrs. Lubbock & Co and their merchants for a six month period, permitting two vessels to proceed from the Ports of Cadiz, Ayamonte or St Lucar to the Port of London 'with cargos of wine and such goods as are allowed by our order of the 11th November 1807 to be imported' without being hindered by a blockade providing the vessels 'shall not be found to have had on board….any Warlike or Naval Stores, or any Article or Articles intended to be or usually converted into Warlike or Naval Stores, or Salt or Provisions of any Kind whatever, except such as may be fairly deemed Sea Stores for the Use of the Crews….' Countersigned at the foot by Robert Jenkinson (1770-1828) 2nd Earl of Liverpool. British Prime Minister 1812-27, Home Secretary 1804-06, 1807-09. Signed ('Hawkesbury') as Baron Hawkesbury. With blind embossed paper seal affixed. With blank integral leaf. Some light dust staining to the edges and some folds and a few small tears to the edges, only very slightly affecting one letter of the King's signature. G
