Description
GRENVILLE WILLIAM: (1759-1834) British Prime Minister 1806-07. A.L.S., Grenville, two pages, 8vo, Malvern, 29th August 1821, to Dr. Card. Grenville states that he had intended to call on his correspondent the previous day, but the weather prevented him from doing so, and continues ‘There can be no possible impropriety in your making the renewed application which your correspondent suggests. Lord Liverpool amply deserves the praise which he gives him. But there must still be much merit in your profession which he wants the means of rewarding, & much more which he must be wholly ignorant of.’ Grenville further adds ’Every thing seems to depend on your getting your application backed by a favourable representation from some person to whom Ld. Liverpool is in the habit of listening on such matters. But on the means of doing this I am quite unable to offer you any advice.’ With blank integral leaf. Some extremely minor, light age wear, otherwise VG
