SYKES FREDERICK: (1877-1954) British Air Vice Marshal of World War I, later a statesman and politician who served as Governor of Bombay 1928-33. A good vintage signed 13 x 11 photograph, the image depicting Sykes and his wife, Isabel, seated in full length poses at the centre of twelve rows of residence and political staff and military guard (including a row of Lancers) in the grounds of the Governor's residence in Bombay. Signed by Sykes in bold black fountain pen ink to a clear area at the base of the image and dated October 1933 in his hand, and also signed by Isabel Sykes in bold black fountain pen ink with her name alone, also to a clear area at the base of the image. Framed and glazed in the original black wooden frame to an overall size of 14 x 12. A very small area of light foxing to the left edge of the photographer's mount, otherwise VG
