Description

[BLYTON ENID]: (1897-1968) British Children's Writer. TRESILIAN STUART (1891-1974) British Artist and Illustrator. An excellent 2 x 4½ pencil, pen and ink drawing, signed and inscribed by Tresilian, n.p., n.d, (mid 1940's). Tresilian's illustration is of Kiki, the parrot that featured in Enid Blyton's Adventure Series of children's stories. Signed ('S. Tresilian') in bold black fountain pen ink beneath the image, and inscribed, 'To Paul Whiteley, Greetings from 'Kiki'' to the head of the page. Neatly laid down to a page removed from an autograph album and annotated 'Artist in Enid Blyton books'in the hand of the collector. VG The Adventure Series by Enid Blyton is a series of eight children's novels. The books feature the same juvenile characters: Philip, Jack, Dinah, and Lucy-Ann, along with several adult characters. Jack's pet parrot, Kiki, is also a standard feature in each novel. The colourful dust jackets and line illustrations were by Stuart Tresilian.
