Description
Qing dynasty. The chime is carved on both sides with wu fu or five bats, representing the five blessings of old age, wealth, health, love of virtue and natural death, flying among clouds and facing a "shou" medallion of longevity. Another large bat at the top of the chime has its wings stretched around the chime form, at the lower corners of the chime on each side is one eye, possibly from a stylized dragon or taotie monster. An incised gilt bronze finding for hanging. One repaired crack to stone. Approx. 5 3/4 by 9 7/8 in., 14.7 by 25.2 cm.
