Description
19th century. The bodhisattva seated in padmasana on a Pala style Indian base, one hand raises a lotus flower while the other hand holds a cup, wearing a simple crown, ornate jewelry and adorned robes. The bodhisattva's long hair is separated into two locks held together with decorative bands and cascades down each shoulder. A serene and gentle face with downcast eyes, traces of red still remain on his lips. Six character Tang dynasty reign mark on back, floral mark to base. Approx. 14 /2 by 11 in., 37 by 28 cm.
