Description
RARE CHORRERA MELON-FORM BOWL. ca. 1800-300 BC. The hemispheric bowl with one side pinched to imitate a halved hollowed out melon, the exterior highly burnished to a beautiful shiny red surface. 3.5 x 7.75 inches. Line on rim else in excellent condition. A rare early piece.
Provenance: An extensive East Coast Pre-Columbian collection. Acquired from a New York ancient art dealer in the late 20th century.
