The two cubic pyrites are located on their original bedrock. They were found in Fuente del Moro in the community Navajun in the Spanish province La Rioja. These pyrites are older than 50 million years BC. Navajun is known worldwide for their pyrite mine, which was discovered by the miner Pedro Ansorena in 1960. Cubical pyrite cubes can be perfectly mined out there. Pyrites of this size are extremely rare.
The mineral stones are in very good condition according their age with minimal traces of age and wear. The dimensions of the large pyrite are c. 5.8 x 6.1 x 6.5 cm, the small pyrite measures 2.3 x 2.6 x 2.4 cm and the total dimensions, including the bedrock, are 16.2 x 23 x 22 cm. (tm)
