A pair of Egyptian bronze eyes
Dimensions: 16 x 21 x 8 cm
Age-according very good condition

The ancient Egyptian symbol of the Eye of Horus originally served as a means of protection and was used as an amulet and protection sign against the ‘evil look’ since the beginning of the Old Kingdom until the end of the time of the Pharaohs; casket garments and burial objects were decorated with those in the New Kingdom, these were the so-called ‘magic eyes’

The two Egyptian eyes are crafted of bronze. They date to the late period to around 664 until 332 BC. The slender curved eye rims with extended cosmetic lines and pronounced tear ducts show white stone sclera and black circular pupils. They are framed by curved bronze eyebrows. The ancient Egyptian symbol of the Eye of Horus originally served as a means of protection and was used as an amulet and protection sign against the ‘evil look’ since the beginning of the Old Kingdom until the end of the time of the Pharaohs. Casket garments and burial objects were decorated with those in the New Kingdom, these were the so-called ‘magic eyes’.
The pair of bronze eyes is in age-according very good condition with a very beautiful green age patina and fine cracks in the white stone sclera. Each eye is approximately 8 cm long. They are mounted on a metal stand. The total dimensions including the stand are 16 x 21 x 8 cm. (tm)
