Description
D-143 WWII U.S. Navy Mark 2 fighting knife. Darkened round flat steel pommel and short crossguard. Leather rings grip - reverse carved "DWD". 6 7/8" blade retaining 90% of the original blue finish. Marked "CAMILLUS, N.Y." and "U.S.N.". Extension for the belt slot on the brown leather scabbard marked "USN" and stenciled name, barely readable, "P.W.DOWNES". Reverse has the names of 8 Pacific locations including Pearl Harbor, Saipan, Iwo Jima, etc. With a web pouch (named "P.W. DOWNES") containing shrapnel and a note "Shrapnel from the S.P. aboard L.S.T. 787 - 1944". Also with an aviator's bandage pouch and attached pin - on flashlight. About II
