Charles F. Tuckwell (Pvt., Co. D, 23rd Mass. Infantry) dated at Camp Raleigh, Roanoke Island, Feb. 14, 1862; 6pp. (the first with patriotic image of a zouave and flags) written in ink and pencil, to his family: offering rich detail of his experiences landing under fire, battle against Confederate forces, and the aftermath; accompanied by photocopied related documents and a transcript of the letter (Tuckwell died of typhoid fever at New Bern, NC, May 9, 1862.)
