Description
Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Ca 400 to 900 CE. Costa Rican ceramic ocarina in the form of a duck or other example of waterfowl assuming a playful position with wings and webbed feet splayed outward. The piece possesses an attractive greyware finish with incised geometric designs, eyes composed of appliques and depressions in the clay to attain nice depth, and four sound holes to produce pleasing music. 4-1/2" H.
