Description

A Mid-19th Century Messenger & Sons Bronze Argand Chandelier. Extravagant bronze and Dore bronze Three light chandelier with Urn form upper portion that is enhanced by Acanthus leaves and fruit, flower, leaf and pinecone garlands. The lower portion extends into Six arms, three are supporting and three are lights with frosted and clear cut glass globes that are adorned with spectacular mask, scroll, and acanthus leaf details. The whole is suspended from a chain consisting of linked medallions and rings with Beast form hooks; stamped "Messenger & Sons London, Birmingham". Original Bronze patina with Gilded detail showing some wear, minor flaking to the base of one of the globes, electrified; globes are not original. Chandelier only is 20" wide and approximately 24" high, 44" high overall. ESTIMATE $2,000-3,000
