The present centerpiece of an iron shield originates from the Indo-Persian region and dates from the 17th century. It shows influences from the Persian Sipar and the Indian Dhal. The round shape is convex .The center shows a large boss topped with a dome, surrounded by four small bosses. The shield is fitted with rhino skin on the reverse. The edge is converted. The original rope handle is fitted with two iron rings. The wooden handle is not original.

The shield shows typical rust marks and wear consistent with age. There is a drilling hole visible to the edge. The diameter of the shield is 23.5 cm. (cko)
