This Etruscan bronze statuette dates back to the 5th century BC. The figure of a young warrior wears the guise of a Greek hoplite. He is dressed with a helmet with an imposing comb, a linothorax and was most likely fitted with a spear and a shield. Possibly, the figure represents Laran, the god of war, who is associated in Etruscan mythology with the fire and the sun and was regarded as the guardian of peace.
The figure is mounted on a round and stepped bronze base. It is in good overall condition with a typical patina of age and a small notch on the right leg. The hands show remains of a spear and a shield. The height of the figure is 18.5 cm (21.5 cm including the base). (cko)
