Beautiful depiction of Osiris with its characteristic attributes
The present Osiris bronze statuette was probably manufactured in the late period of Ancient Egypt. It shows the typical mummy form and bears the characteristic attributes of the crook as a shepherds’ symbol and the flail as a fertility symbol. The head of the figure wears the typical Atef crown with horns. Osiris is considered the god of the afterlife, the rebirth and the Nile. He is one of the most important gods of the Ancient Egypt. His attributes were probably taken over by the royal insignia.
The figure is in good condition considering its age, showing a thick patina. It is mounted on a modern base. The height is 10 cm (14 cm with base). (cko)
