Description
English, 18th century. A pair of engravings by Colen Campbell (British, 1676-1729) comprising of one of the domed facade of St. Philip's Church at Birmingham in Warwickshyre, inscribed below image "The East Prospect of St. Philip's Church at Birmingham in Warwickshyre. Invented by The Archer Esq.. This plate is most humbly inscrib'd to the Honorable William Pultzny Esq. Principall Secretary of War. Ca. Campbell Delin"; and one depicting the domed facade of a church in Lincolns in Fields, inscribed below image "This new design of my invention for a church in Lincolns in Fields is most humbly inscribed to the Rev. Dr. Lancaster Vicar of St. Martins in the Fields, Arch Deacon of Midlesex, and Provost of Queens Colledge Oxon. Ca. Campbell Inv. et Delin". Framed 26.25" x 20.5", unframed sight size 15.5" x 10.25".
