Exceptional and rare moon phase and calendar clock with sophisticated complications in a very good quality

The present month going moon phase and calendar clock was made ??around 1820 by the Parisian watchmaker Mugnier. With its elaborate complications, it is an extremely fine and rare piece. As Étienne worked for Breguet, the influence of the watch company is remarkable here. The precision regulator features a circular brass movement with a spring balancer and a scissor escapement. The duration is probably one month. The half-hour strike goes on a bell. The clock is fitted with a moon phase display and a perpetual calendar with a French inscription. The rectangular wooden case with a mahogany veneer and fine fluted wooden moldings appears simple but solid. As well, the paw feet made of plated brass are of particular note.

The clock is signed with ‘Mugnier à Paris’ on the dial. It is in a good restored condition, showing minor radial hairline cracks in the enamel. The dimensions are 84 x 27 x 14 cm. During a short-term test, the clock was fully functional, but long-term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed.
