Richly ornamented example of a Vienna Wall clock; style typical of the period of the Biedermeier
The ornamental Wall clock was created in Vienna in the middle of the 19th century. The square movement with spring balancer and anchor escapement has a strike on tonal spring and a mounting for the pendulum. In the center of the high rectangular wooden case set the salient enamelled dial with roman numerals surrounded by an ornamental flower wreath. The richly decorated front with concave frame shows two revolving fillets with classical egg motif and stylized leaf décor.
The clock worked during a short-time test; long term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed. The stiking mechanism works restricted and must be reviewed by a specialist. The Pendule is in good condition. In the area of the dial, there are small defects in the surface. The gilding is partly rubbed. A stress crack in the middle of the front. The color scheme is partially renewed. Broken pendulum (being restored). The clock measures 43.4 x 35.7 x 13.3 cm. (bed)
