Functioning
This Viennese mantle clock dates to the Late Empire period. It has a round brass movement with anchor escapement and repeater. The 4/4 hour strike occurs on a spiral. The dial with enamel chapter ring and guilloched center has Arabic numerals and plain steel hands. The case is made of cherry wood, partly black polished, with alabaster columns, brass sheet ornaments and a three-dimensional eagle finial. The pendulum hangs on a wire suspension.
The clock is in good condition with signs of age and wear. There are small alterations to the case. The chapter ring is slightly damaged at 6 and 12. The movement is functional but long term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed. The case measures 59 x 30.5 x 13.5 cm. (tfa)
