This work by Volker Dierkes shows two half naked figures in front of a bright red background. Because of the void facial features the two beings look like statues. This semi-abstract representation of the human figure is a recurring feature in Dierkes’ work conveying a modern aesthetic.



The work is in good condition with only a few minor colour abrasions. The canvas is signed “Volker Dierkes”, dated “2003/2012” and titled “Die Macht der Liebe Zeit” (“The Power of Love Time”) on the back. The dimensions are 150 x 150 cm.



Volker Dierkes (b. 1942)

Volker Dierkes was born in Colmar, Alsace in 1942. He studied fine art in Mannheim, Karlsruhe and Berlin. For twenty years he lived and worked in Spain and Germany. He permanently moved to Berlin in 2000. Dierkes became renowned for his monumental sculptures in the public space. Later he established himself as a painter of large colourful canvases. The artist’s works are exhibited throughout Europe. One of his granite sculptures, “Kopfspaziergang” (“Head Walk”) from 1989 can be admired in Berlin, Charlottenburg.
