This painting, rendered in oil on canvas on board, was created by the Russian artist Galina Alekseyevna Roumyanseva (b. 1927) in the year 1959. Depicted is a village street in the evening with some people on the street between the houses and the lighted lanterns. Due to a dynamic brushwork, fresh colors and the emphasis on the areas of the subject, this work becomes an atmospheric-harmonious impression of a village scene in Russia. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right in Cyrillic.



The painting is verso annotated in Cyrillic and dated ‘1959’. Verso is also a badge with biographical information about the artist. The painting is mounted on a wooden panel and framed. It is in good condition, there are merely pin holes in the corners. The paint is slightly touched up. The dimensions of the painting are 40.8 x 65.8 cm and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 44 x 69.5 cm.



Galina Alekseyevna Roumyanseva (b. 1927)

Galina Alekseyevna Roumyanseva was born in 1927 in Leningrad. She went to the Leningrad Repin art college until 1957 and studied under Boris Iogansson. Her subject matter is mostly depictions of her family and landscape impressions. She began taking part in national and international exhibitions from 1957 on. Works of hers are located in museums in St. Petersburg, Perm, Krasnodar, Pereslawl, as well as in numerous private collections in Germany, France, Japan and in Switzerland. (tm)
