Item Details
Description
Mixed Media on canvas
Germany, 2013
Thomas Dellacroix (Thomas Dellert-Bergh, born 1953) - Swedish Mutlimedia artist, painter and photographer
Signed lower right, ‘T. Dellert’
Dimensions: 67 x 100 cm
Very good condition

‘Black Magic’ is the work of the Swedish artist Thomas Dellacroix and was executed in mixed media on canvas in 2013. The print shows several superimposed photographic motifs, including a photo portrait of the singer, dancer and ‘femme fatale’ Anita Berber (1899-1928), the image of a female robot from Fritz Lang’s epic science-fiction Metropolis and a newspaper cut-out. At the right edge, there is a large painted ‘M’ from which runs the color. The number ‘28’ may indicate the year of death of Berber. Thus the work, which was part of the exhibition ‘Schicksalstag der Deutschen’ in 2013 in Berlin, refers to several iconic German silent movies – a ‘black art’ the Weimar Republic was famous for.

The work is in very good condition with only minor wear. The lower right corner shows the artist's signature ‘T. Dellert’. The dimensions are 67 x 100 cm.
