One electronically tested 14KT yellow gold ladies cast topaz and diamond ring with a bright polish finish. Condition is new, good workmanship. The featured topaz is set within a diamond bezel, completed by a one millimeter wide band. Identified with markings of "14K". Containing: One prong set rectangular step cut natural blue topaz, measuring 11.00 x 8.85 x 6.65mm, approximate weight of 6.08ct., clarity is eye clean, type I, medium, very slightly grayish, very slightly greenish blue color, (GIA vslgB 5/3), cut is good. A deposit of a thin layer has been applied to the topaz to produce the intense color effect. The process utilizes a very high temperature treatment, diffusion of ions into the topaz, plus in some cases neutron bombardment has been used to create the color center. Diffusion processes causes the added ions to become part of the crystal surface with no distinct boundary. Do not put a gem treated in this manner into an ultrasonic cleaner.
