This bottle 2009 Premier Cru from Château Latour vinery comes from the Pauillac appellation from the known wine region of Bordeaux.
The appellation Pauillac produces some of the world’s most highly-prized and expensive red wines. Situated to the northwest of the city of Bordeaux, near the Atlantic coast, its vineyards are located on dried-out swamplands. Vines take root in gravel dunes with subterranean clay lens. Here, Cabernet Sauvignon can develop a unique depth of taste and power, so the grape variety therefore makes up a large percentage of the Pauillac cuvées. The tannin-rich, powerful, concentrated wines require longer bottle-ageing in order to differentiate and reveal their taste. The Classification of 1855 put the vineyards of the Lafite-Rothschild and Latour estates ahead of the pack, awarding them Premier cru status. Mouton-Rothschild has also belonged to the club since 1973. In second place are the Deuxième crus of Pichon-Longueville-Baron and Pichon-Longueville-Comtesse de Lalande. For decades, however, experts have judged them as being at least on a par with their Premier cru counterparts. This is also the case for numerous other top wines from this appellation.
The fill level is excellent (high fill). The label and capsule are in perfect condition.
Château Latour
The famous Château Latour, established in 1680, is located in Saint-Lambert parish in Pauillac. The Bordeaux-classification of 1855 honors this winery as one of the four best Premier Cru Classé wineries. Originally it belonged to the French noble family Ségur that also held Château Lafite-Rothschild and Château Mouton-Rothschild. Until 1963 it remained in family property. Since 1993 93 % of the winery belong to Francois Pinault’s Artemis Holding. In addition to the second wine ‘Les Forts de Latour’ the winery produces a third a wine called ‘Pauillac de Latour’. Today the team of Château Latour is constantly in search of improvement and perfection. New methods in the winery and on the vineyard, i.e. the ‘biodynamie’ are tested incessantly. (lez)
